In 2021 Indian team lost two major ICC events, the first WTC final against New Zealand, and the second is an early exit in T20 WC 2021.

despite having some excellent players in the squad Like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, Ravi Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, etc India is losing every tournament.

Although India never won any ICC cup in these 8 years they have shown great consistency over the years in all formats but got unlucky in real-time.

Here we have noticed some serious issues and reasons behind “why India is losing major ICC tournaments over the years.

WHO IS PRIYANK PANCHAL? WHO REPLACED ROHIT SHARMA

Major Reasons:

1. Finisher problem

After MS Dhoni’s downfall in international cricket Indian team never found a permanent replacement and support from the lower-middle order that team India needed in real-time.

Yuvraj Singh (after his comeback in 2014), Suresh Raina, Ambati Raydu, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, and Hardik Pandya were some of the tested candidates at numbers 5 and 6, but they were not up to the mark as they should have.

2. Unsettled middle order

After Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, the Indian team never found any strong candidate for number 4.

Rahane, Raydu, Manish Pandey, Rishab Pant, KL Rahul and some other players India used for number 4, but failed to get any permanent replacement.

3. Top order collapse in knockout matches

We all know that Indian top-order batsmen are world-class players and they have been done remarkably great in international cricket.

Indian batting lineup depends on these 3 players (Rohit, Dhawan, Virat) most of the time.

But they have not performed up to the mark in knockout matches as they play in normal league matches.

4. fast bowling issue

It is not hidden from world cricket that the Indian cricket team lack fast bowlers over the years.

Few of the bowlers like – Zaheer Khan, Bhuvaneshwar, Jasprit Bumrah, etc have been great for the team, but they did not get consistent support from other fast bowlers.

5. Average performance in away conditions

Most of the players face problems while playing in away conditions. But if a team needs to win big tournaments they have to perform well in away conditions as well.

The problem is here that Indian players have not performed well in away conditions while playing in the semifinal or final.

6. Expectations of more than 1.4 billion people

To be honest, the Indian team never looked back after the start of 21 century.

They won the 2007 T20 world cup, the 2011 ODI world cup, 2013 champion trophy, topped test ranking in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, won Asia cups and small tri-series and quadrilateral-series against various opponents.

Players came under pressure before the tournament when they represent a country with over a 1.4 billion population with a cricket-crazy nation.
